The Choice

“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7:13‭-‬14 NLT

Jesus is the door to eternal life with God in heaven. He said so Himself.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. John 10:9 KJV

Any old way will do if we want to go to hell. And there will be many who will choose the easy way.

Satan has no requirements. All we have to do to go with him is nothing. Life can be spent doing whatever we want to, or nothing at all. We don’t have to do anything special to go there. We don’t even have to sin especially well. All we have to do to go there is reject Jesus and stay on the path we’re on.

Life with God must be entered through the narrow gate – Jesus. We must choose to go with Him.

Stepping through His door requires that we place our faith in Him.

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NLT

We must repent – face up to our sin. Recognize it is God we have sinned against, and turn away from it to Jesus, the Savior. Then be baptized in His name.

Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 NLT

Jesus said if we love Him, we will obey Him.

“If you love me, obey my commandments. John 14:15 NLT

“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. John 15:9‭-‬10 NLT

Following Jesus is so simple anyone can do it. But it isn’t always easy. Loving can sometimes be difficult. Forgiveness isn’t always easy.

This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. This is my command: Love each other. John 15:12‭-‬13‭, ‬17 NLT

“If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14‭-‬15 NLT

Living the Jesus way is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. He is God’s gift to us when we choose Jesus and are born again.

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’
John 3:3‭-‬7 NLT
