Scriptures to Combat Anxiety

One of Satan’s best weapons is fear, and we are all susceptible to it. However, Christians do not have to succumb to it. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can send fear packing.

Below are a few scriptures for shielding our minds from his attacks against us.

I suggest memorizing them so you can readily whip them out to defend yourself when fear comes calling. Write them on index cards and place in strategic places. Saturate your mind with them and see the difference God’s word and faith make against the enemy’s fear tactics.

The Lord is good. When people are in trouble, they can go to him for safety. He takes good care of those who trust in him.
Nahum 1:7 NIRV

“So don’t worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
Matthew 6:34 NIRV

Worry makes a man’s heart heavy. But a kind word cheers him up.

Psalm 34:4 NIRV

When I’m afraid, I will trust in you.
Psalm 56:3 NIRV

Say to those whose hearts are afraid, “Be strong. Do not fear. Your God will come. He will pay your enemies back. He will come to save you.”
Isaiah 35:4 NIRV

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid. You are with me. Your shepherd’s rod and staff comfort me.
Psalm 23:4 NIRV

So do not be afraid. I am with you. Do not be terrified. I am your God. I will make you strong and help you. My powerful right hand will take good care of you. I always do what is right.
Isaiah 41:10 NIRV

So we can say boldly, “The Lord helps me. I will not be afraid. What can a mere man do to me?” (Psalm 118:6,7)
Hebrews 13:6 NIRV

Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you.
1 Peter 5:7 NIRV

Don’t worry about anything. Instead, tell God about everything. Ask and pray. Give thanks to him. Then God’s peace will watch over your hearts and your minds because you belong to Christ Jesus. God’s peace can never be completely understood. Finally, my brothers and sisters, always think about what is true. Think about what is noble, right and pure. Think about what is lovely and worthy of respect. If anything is excellent or worthy of praise, think about those kinds of things. Do what you have learned or received or heard from me. Follow my example. The God who gives peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:6‭-‬9 NIRV

I can do everything by the power of Christ. He gives me strength.
Philippians 4:13 NIRV

“I leave my peace with you. I give my peace to you. I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be troubled. And do not be afraid.
John 14:27 NIRV
