Believing God

On the day Jonah entered the city, he shouted to the crowds: “Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!” The people of Nineveh believed God’s message, and from the greatest to the least, they declared a fast and put on burlap to show their sorrow. When the king of Nineveh heard what Jonah was saying, he stepped down from his throne and took off his royal robes. He dressed himself in burlap and sat on a heap of ashes. Then the king and his nobles sent this decree throughout the city: “No one, not even the animals from your herds and flocks, may eat or drink anything at all. People and animals alike must wear garments of mourning, and everyone must pray earnestly to God. They must turn from their evil ways and stop all their violence. Who can tell? Perhaps even yet God will change his mind and hold back his fierce anger from destroying us.”
Jonah 3:4‭-‬9 NLT

This is the only proper response when we are confronted with sin. There is individual sin, which surely must be repented of. Then there is sin we share in even though we didn’t participate in it ourselves, such as abortion. That is national sin.

Have we repented to God for the millions of babies that have been slaughtered? Since repentance includes turning from sin, have we called for the end of abortion in America, and worked to eradicate it? Have we repented for leading other countries, by our example, to legalize and practice abortion? Leadership is a privilege as well as a responsibility.

What about pedophilia and human trafficking? Instead of enacting laws that reflect our abhorrence of these, there are those who want to legalize pedophilia, as if they think the answer is sweeping it under the proverbial rug! No!! These are evil and a stench in the nostrils of God!

Do we think God is okay with all the commandments broken? If we have spent any time at all getting to know Him, there is no doubt this is not true. We have a good and loving God, but He will not continue to tolerate sin, especially on the scale we have been seeing it in America.

Are you aware that Walmart (America’s store) sells satanic items on walmart.com, such as the satanic bible, pentagrams, etc.? Unfortunately, these may also be found on Amazon. What would happen if Christians were to say, “No way! As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”? There are enough Christians in this country to make a difference, even to Walmart and Amazon. But if we don’t take a stand, they will never hear our voice.

If God sent a prophet to say, “40 Days and America will be destroyed,” what is the first thing you would do? He doesn’t need or want our money or any other thing we might give or do to show our sorrow. He just wants us to repent and turn to Him through Jesus Christ, His Son. Then we are clothed in His righteousness!

Will you repent and turn to the One Who loves you so much?

Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 NLT
