Mercy

God has made clear through His word that there is One that towers above all others.

As much as we love our country, it is not America. It is without doubt even more valuable than that.

If our focus is on America, and living the American dream, we need to raise our sights.

If we have tried to “use” Him to get back the goodness of the land flowing with milk and honey, we need to repent.

If we have judged others because of their politics, as important and far-reaching as government policies are, and maybe even pushed them away from knowing Jesus, we need to repent with prayer and fasting! God help us!

Abortion and child trafficking are great sins for which we are being judged. God does not stutter when He makes His will known, from the Old Testament, where He condemns child sacrifice, to the New, where He rebuked His disciples and said, “Let the little children come to me”. So there could be no doubt, He stated the seriousness of harming them when He said it would be better to have a rock tied around our feet and dropped in the sea than to hurt one of them.

We have also made ourselves a stench in the nostrils of God over our embrace of the LGBTQ agenda. God loves all people. He stretched out His arms and died for all, and when anyone hates on any people, they are bringing judgment on themselves. But that does not alter the fact that He made the rules from the garden of Eden that no president or country has the right to change. Do you think God changed His mind about this issue when He saw the White House lit up over the Supreme Court’s decision to embrace what is an abomination to God? No, but America may have sealed her fate at that moment.

This is only the beginning of ways we have shook our fists in His face.

We are all guilty to some degree of greed, sexual sin, lying, and idolatry. Relatively few, even Christians, scrupulously obey Jesus’ command to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, much less love our neighbors as ourselves. When push comes to shove, how many put another’s need above our own – especially if it’s someone we don’t really know, or who can’t do anything for us in return?

We need to repent. From the small of us to the great of us. We need to repent for ourselves, our families, our cities, states, and our country.

America, America, God shed His grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea!
