Do You Believe This?

“Your brother will rise again,” Jesus told her. Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me, even if he dies, will live. Everyone who lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
John 11:23‭-‬26 CSB

Talk about an object lesson!

Jesus had purposely waited to go to Bethany where His friend, Lazarus, was very sick. Martha, his sister, was hurt that Jesus didn’t come right away and heal her brother. I can identify with that. She had doubtless watched Him heal many. Why not her brother – His friend?

But Jesus had something greater than healing in mind.

And this is where the water hits the wheel.

When He raised Lazarus from the dead, Jesus demonstrated His ability to do what He was promising. This was the first part of the lesson. The second was when He, Himself, would rise from the dead, proving He was who He said He was, and He could do what He said He could do.

Romans 10:9-10 says, “If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation.
