Reading an excerpt from Luke 2 was given a place of honor in my family’s celebration of Christmas from my earliest memory. We opened gifts on Christmas Eve and, gathered around the Christmas tree, my dad (or later husband or kids) would usually read it. We waited in anticipation of the gift giving, but training our minds on this most important segment of our celebration of Christ’s birth first. Although we had traditions we observed as part of it, Christmas was never really about anything but Christ’s birth.
I am so grateful for that early training. To this day, Christmas is all about Jesus for me.
I am also supremely grateful for Dr. Luke, and others who wrote down some of the facts of Jesus’ life for us. I would love to travel through the Christmas story with you in this blog. Please feel free to add any comments you may have. I would love to hear your thoughts about this most important holiday, and the One Whose birth we are celebrating.
That being said, let’s begin with Luke chapter one. The plan is that we will work our way up to His birth on Christmas Eve. 🌟
Many have undertaken to compile a narrative about the events that have been fulfilled among us, just as the original eyewitnesses and servants of the word handed them down to us. So it also seemed good to me, since I have carefully investigated everything from the very first, to write to you in an orderly sequence, most honorable Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things about which you have been instructed.
