Is Going to Church Important?

If we are going to follow Jesus…

He went to the Jewish place of worship (synagogue or temple) regularly. (Mt. 12:9, Luke 4:15, John 6:59, Luke 13:10, to name a few)

How many times do we read that He was in the temple or synagogue teaching or healing, or in the synagogue reading from the scroll? (Mt. 24:1, Mt. 12:9, Luke 21:38…)

He showed great regard for the house (the temple) of His Father when He cleared out those who were making a mockery of that sacred place. (Mark 11:15, Luke 19:45)

He honored the Father in every way and every moment of His life.

If we are going to say we follow Him, how can we neglect singing, praising, listening, praying, teaching, fellowshipping… with other believers?

As a general rule, this is one of those places we don’t need to ask, “What would Jesus do?” He has already shown us.

This is not the time to pull away and neglect meeting together, as some have formed the habit of doing. In fact, we should come together even more frequently, eager to encourage and urge each other onward as we anticipate that day dawning.

Hebrews 10:25 TPT

Jesus is coming back! From all indications, it will be soon. That makes corporate worship, where we may encourage and be encouraged, all the more important.
