Our love for God is demonstrated in the way we treat others. When we give sacrificially (because of Him), forgive deep hurts (because of Him), serve others willingly in obedience to Him (remember when He washed the disciples’ feet?), we are living out the gospel and our faith in Him.

It begins with the vertical relationship, intersected by the relationships with other people. Vertical + horizontal = a cross!

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.

We cannot love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength without loving others, and we cannot love others well without loving God as He commands.
